About DandyDon

Entertaining. Educating. Energizing.

DandyDon is a weekly newsletter and video show that takes the narrative being pushed by power, names the framing, and walks you through what's actually there. Politics, markets, culture, math — not hot takes.

Who runs it

DandyDon is hosted by D. Brown — a writer, builder, and political-data obsessive out of Arkansas. The show is a one-person operation, with a small team of collaborators on the research and production side. Every episode is written by the host. Every number is checked twice. Every correction is published, not buried.

What it covers

  • Politics — the US elections, with a deep focus on what the data actually says versus what the cable frame says it says.
  • Markets — where political narratives and economic data collide (mortgages, energy, labor), with the receipts.
  • Culture — the long-form pieces on older movies, books, and ideas that the algorithm doesn't surface anymore.
  • How we built it — the meta essays on building a one-person media operation that doesn't sell anything but the truth.

Corrections policy

If we get something wrong, we say so — at the top of the next episode, in plain language, with the corrected number. We do not silently edit. We do not move the receipts. If a claim was retracted, the original link still resolves, and the retraction links back to it. If you find something we should correct, email corrections@dandydon.media.

Editorial standards

  • No paid placement. No sponsored segments that aren't labeled "sponsored." No affiliate links that change the recommendation.
  • No anonymous sourcing on factual claims. Quotes have names attached. Numbers have methodology attached.
  • No hot takes after 10pm. (This is self-imposed, and broken often.)

Receipts

Every episode ends with a receipts list — the source documents, datasets, and methodology behind every claim in the piece. Where we can, we link to the primary document (court filings, BLS tables, FEC filings, peer-reviewed papers). Where we can't, we link to the closest thing that can be verified.

Want to support the show? The newsletter is free, the show is free, the receipts are free. If it matters to you, the easiest way to keep it going is becoming a patron or subscribing.
