"Talarico has never met a tax hike he didn't like." That's from the campaign of Ken Paxton, Republican, Texas Attorney General. James Talarico, Democrat, is running against him for the United States Senate. The release lists four counts. We check every one.

Count one: Talarico voted against House Joint Resolution 38, which banned a state income tax. True. It goes on the wall. A vote against banning a tax raises zero taxes. Count two: "Senate Bill two." The El Paso Times says it "appears" to be the school voucher bill. Voting against vouchers is not a tax hike. Count three: His campaign says he voted for Senate Bills two and three in 2023, touted as "the largest property tax cut in Texas history." So there are two Senate Bill twos. Guess which one made the press release.
