San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria (D) said: "We are not expendable." The New York Times reported criticism from both parties. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung says Trump was describing what "would have" happened if a nuclear Iran hadn't been stopped. The LA Times called the remark "possibly in jest."
