He Built the Training. Now He's on the Ballot
Doug Chapin trained the people who run America's elections and wanted to retire as an 'election geek.' The Election Geek's Platform
Doug Chapin, Democrat (DFL), Hanover attorney and election-administration expert -- led The Pew Charitable Trusts' elections team, founded electionline.org, built the Humphrey School's election-administration certificate program -- the DFL-endorsed challenger (about 90 percent on the first ballot) to House Majority Whip Tom Emmer in Minnesota's 6th District on November 3. He says he decided to run on Inauguration Day 2025, when the January 6 defendants were pardoned. A profile, warm and sourced: who he is, why he is running, what he says he would do (health care costs, keep the tips and overtime provisions and repeal the breaks for the wealthiest, benefits with fraud checks that do not punish the eligible), and the district he wants to represent.
